What Automotive Workshops Should Look for in a CNG Kit Supplier

For a workshop, a CNG kit supplier is a long-term dependency. Every kit you fit carries your name, and every delay in parts or documentation lands on your customer relationship. The price of a kit matters, but it is rarely what decides whether a supplier works out. These are the questions worth asking first.

Genuine products and the paperwork behind them

Ask exactly which brands and kit types the supplier offers, and how they source them. Insist on the documentation each installation needs: kit and component approvals under the AIS-024 / AIS-028 framework, and anything your customers will need for their registration records. A supplier who cannot produce documents promptly will slow down every job.

Consistency of supply

A workshop can only quote confidently if it knows a kit will arrive when promised. Ask how orders are confirmed, how lead times are communicated, and what happens when a model is out of stock. Clear, honest communication about availability is worth more than an optimistic promise.

Spares and service parts

Conversions need servicing. Filters, reducer service parts, injectors and wiring components should be available for the kits you fit, for as long as your customers are driving them. Check that the supplier supports the products after the sale, not just at the point of sale.

Technical support and responsiveness

When an installation does not behave as expected, a supplier who understands the product can save hours. Ask who you contact with a technical question, how issues are tracked, and how quickly you can expect an answer. A supplier with a recorded, referenced support process, rather than a single phone number, is easier to depend on.

Clarity on warranty

Agree in advance how warranty claims on kit components are raised, who inspects the part and how replacements are handled. Ambiguity here is the most common source of friction between workshops and suppliers.
